Problem :

The existing PCR Portal functions more like a traditional website than a true dealer dashboard.

Important information is spread across multiple pages, documents, spreadsheets, and external services, forcing dealers to search through several locations to find the data and resources they need. The current experience is also visually dated, cluttered, and not structured around the way dealers actually use the portal.

In addition, the platform needs a more secure gated experience and a stronger foundation for integrating dealer-specific information from external systems.

The challenge was to rethink the portal as a centralized application that could make critical information easier to find while simplifying the broader site experience.

Solution :

I designed a new dealer dashboard concept that brings the most important information into a single personalized overview.

The dashboard gives dealers immediate access to high-value information such as rebates, growth fund balances, dealer rankings, purchasing activity, training progress, and upcoming events without requiring them to navigate through multiple sections or open separate files.

Secondary content still lives within dedicated areas of the portal, but the overall structure is simplified around clear application navigation for reports, resources, purchasing, training, marketing, events, contacts, and account management.

The concept is designed as a web application rather than a traditional content-driven website, with custom API endpoints connecting external services and surfacing dealer-specific data directly within the interface.

Process :

I started by evaluating the existing portal experience and identifying where information was fragmented, duplicated, or unnecessarily difficult to access.

From there, I reorganized the platform around the dealer’s most common needs and separated information into two levels: high-priority data that belongs directly on the dashboard and deeper resources that can remain within dedicated sections.

The dashboard was designed to provide an immediate snapshot of dealer performance and activity, including financial data, rebate information, rankings, training completion, and events. I used cards, lightweight data visualizations, rankings, and status indicators to make complex information easier to scan without overwhelming the user.

I also established a persistent application-style navigation system so dealers can move between functional areas without relying on a traditional website hierarchy.

Account settings were redesigned as part of the same system, introducing clearer profile management, password controls, two-factor authentication, notification preferences, and API access settings.

On the technical side, the concept assumes a custom web application architecture in which API endpoints would connect PCR’s external platforms and internal data sources, allowing information that currently lives in separate systems, spreadsheets, or documents to be surfaced dynamically within the portal.

Outcome :

The redesigned concept transforms the PCR Portal from a collection of disconnected pages and resources into a centralized dealer workspace.

Dealers would be able to understand key account information at a glance, reach frequently used tools more quickly, and spend less time searching across documents and separate systems.

For PCR, the application model would also create a more scalable foundation for future functionality, stronger authentication, deeper data integrations, and more personalized dealer experiences.

The result is a clearer, more modern product direction that demonstrates how the portal could evolve from a traditional gated website into a purpose-built business application.
