Problem :

Urban Ventures’ existing website was built on an outdated custom WordPress theme that was difficult to edit and no longer supported the team’s content needs.

The rigid architecture made it challenging to update pages, add new projects, or evolve the site over time. At the same time, the visual design felt dated and did not effectively showcase Urban Ventures’ development portfolio, making one of the company’s strongest assets harder to discover and explore.

Solution :

I redesigned and rebuilt the site around a more flexible, project-focused experience while preserving the existing brand identity.

The refreshed visual system introduced more whitespace, softer color usage, clearer hierarchy, and a more contemporary overall tone. I also restructured key areas of the site to place greater emphasis on Urban Ventures’ projects and development capabilities.

On the development side, I replaced the legacy custom theme with a block-based WordPress system using Kadence and Advanced Custom Fields, giving the team a much more maintainable foundation for future growth.

Process :

I began by reviewing the existing information architecture and identifying where the site structure and content hierarchy were limiting usability.

The homepage was reorganized to communicate Urban Ventures’ mission more clearly and guide users toward important content, particularly the project portfolio. I simplified page structure, strengthened calls to action, and created a more consistent visual rhythm across the site.

Project discovery was a major focus. I designed a new listing experience with category filtering so users could browse relevant developments more easily, then created a custom project detail template with structured fields for project information, imagery, and supporting content.

The site was rebuilt using reusable Kadence components and ACF-driven content fields, allowing Urban Ventures to add and manage future projects without relying on custom development for every update.

Outcome :

The finished site replaced a rigid, difficult-to-maintain WordPress build with a flexible content system that is easier for the Urban Ventures team to manage and expand.

The redesign improved project visibility, overall usability, and content hierarchy while giving the brand a more polished and approachable digital presence.

Just as importantly, the new block-based architecture created a scalable foundation that supports future content growth without sacrificing consistency or requiring ongoing developer intervention.
